THE Ladies section of Minehead & West Somerset Golf Club enjoyed their annual Christmas lunch, followed by presentations to the winners of the seasonal ‘Turkey Trot' competitions. President Margaret Gliddon presented bottles of wine and chocolates (no longer traditional turkeys) to the winners: 4 clubs and a putter competition was won by Clare Heyhoe, with Jenny Elliott second and Sarah Hill and Anne Oglesby joint third; the individual TT Stableford was won by Nancy Marshall, Annette O’Hare second, Ginnette Bowyer third; the team competition was won by Carolyn Cape, Hazel Binding and Cath Binding, who managed a better overall score than the second-placed team of Lesley Davis, Ginnette Bowyer and Jennifer James. Prizes were also awarded to Cath Binding and Liz Welsh who had won the Ping 4-ball better ball competition earlier in the season, ahead of Rod Chidgey and Paula Parkin in second place. The final accolade went to the lady golfer with the lowest aggregate nett score from their best four medal competitions throughout the season. This was current ladies captain Ginnette Bowyer. She will go on to represent the club in the regional stage of the England Golf “Race to Woodall Spa’ - a medal round to be held in Sherborne in May, 2025.
