WATCHET Town gained a fine 4-2 away win over Saltford in the first division of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League yesterday (Sat).
Billy Jones snapped up two goals for Watchet, with Jay Darrell and Tom Sparks also on target.
Victory enabled Watchet, relegated at the end of last season, to move up to seventh in the table, only five points behind leaders Burnham United with a crucial two matches in hand.
However, Watchet's neighbours Minehead did not fare so well, losing 4-1 away to Ashton & Backwell United - also in the first division. It meant Minehead slipped from seventh to 11th in the table after a bright start to the season.
Watchet and Minehead both have home games this coming Saturday.
