MINEHEAD beat Perry Street 2-1 at home in the Somerset County Under 18 Football League despite missing one or two players..

Minehead avoided their slow start and were up for the game from the start. The defence of Myles Campbell-Farmer, Lewis Norman, Harvey Henderson and Jonah Hopkins were good throughout, defending well and looking comfortable going forward.

Leo Ahern sat in front of the defence allowing the midfield of Ethan Mitchell, Lewis Goodrum, Lyam Scheepers and Tom Kennett to work together and support Riley Pope who was the lone striker.

It was Pope who struck in the 22nd minute when he ran onto a through ball and finished with style giving the keeper no chance.

Only five minutes later it was a very similar story except this time it was a long kick from keeper Lewis Breillat that put Pope through and the finish was a carbon copy and gave Minehead a deserved 2-0 lead.

Half time saw Minehead bring on Jayden Payton for Tom Kennett to provide fresh legs. With 20 minutes to go Perry Street pulled one back with a shot from the edge of the box. However Minehead saw it through to leave them top of the table at this early stage. Man of the match: Lewis Breillat.
