HAVING drawn their opening game of the season 3-3, Minehead turned on the style to beat Huish Tigers 19-2 away in the Under 16 section of the Somerset Girls Football League.

This time out they faced Huish Tigers at their brilliant all weather venue. Minehead, from minute one, were in total of control of the match and quickly found themselves scoring goals for fun!

Mabel, Erin and Evie were proving themselves with composed finishes to give the visitors a healthy lead. Huish did lay a glove on Minehead as they provided multiple threats using long balls, one of which paid off with a goal for the home side after a mix up at the back.

Minehead didn’t let that phase them and continued to dominate in all phases of the game, adding to the scoresheet on frequent occasions with Lilly also getting her first of the season as the first half came to end.

As the 2nd half started Minehead didn’t let up as Mabel, Evie and Erin completed their hat- tricks. The platform for this success for the forward players came from Jaz and Lilly who provided a midfield masterclass as they linked everything together.

Behind them a solid back 3 led by the exemplary Bonita who frustrated the opposition time and time again with Alana and Emily alongside her.

As the game progressed into the later stages Minehead continued to rotate positions. With 4 goalkeeper across the game Erin and Mabel now found themselves in goal allowing Ruby to join the attack.

Ruby, who has already showed her qualities since joining the side in the summer, didn’t waste anytime up top as she scored a quick-fire hat-trick proving futhermore her brilliant versatility. In addition to Ruby’s hat-trick Evie, Erin and Mabel kept terrorising the Huish back line with Evie using her purposeful pace, Mabel cutting in from the left like a knife through butter and Erin jinking her way through multiple defenders. all getting late goals alongside a Huish consolation goal to cement a fine display of finishing in front of goal for the Blues.

The final whistle sounded to a round of applause for the visiting Minehead team who put on a truly superb display of football. Huish Tigers also played a part in the game and were rewarded for their efforts with two goals.
