THE winter indoor bowling season is about to start in Minehead with morning and afternoon mixed triples, evening mixed rink, and evening men and ladies triples leagues.

Members will be playing on a newly laid carpet on rinks 2 and 3. The old carpet was replaced in late August. It had its first stretch on Monday, September 30, with the woods running quicker by almost a second. It is due to be stretched again in six weeks which will increase the speed further. After this the carpet will only need to be stretched every couple of years.

Meanwhile, the winners of the Nominated Pairs were John and Maureen Freegard.
