OAKE Manor Golf Club had a 4 Ball Bowmaker Competition on Friday for the “Founders Day Trophy” which was presented by the directors of the club.

More than 100 golfers played in the competition and the winning team were John Byrne, Shane Bordier and Pet and Graham Murray who scored an incredible 94 points. Paul and Janet Howe along with Paul and Gill Hadley were second with an excellent score of 92 points while John and Sandra Lawrence with Kathy Salway and Martin Dunton were third with 91 points.

More than 130 golfers played in the Saturday Stableford Competition for the “Marie Curie Sheild”. The Division 3 winner Tom Dyke won the Trophy after scoring 43 points, Phil Gadd came second with 41 points while Connor Sellick was third with 40 points.

Symon Dyke was the winner of division 1 with 40 points while the next four players all scored 39 points but on count back Phil Porter came second and Chris Flack was third. James Thomas was the division 2 winner with 40 points while, again, the next four players all scored 39 points but on count back Mike Eastmond came second and Doug Yearsley third.

Patricia Frazer won the Ladies Sunday Stableford Competition with 37points, Ladies Competition Secretary Amanda Mather came second with 36 points while Suzanne Ward was third with 33 points.

The men played a Bogey Competition on Sunday, individual match play against the course. Alan Bowey was the winner with +6, Martin Thomas came second at +5 while Lee Bowey was third also on +5.

The Seniors Section played an Order of Merit Stableford Competition on Monday with Division 1 winner Peter Matthews two shots clear with 43 points. Club captain Charles St George came second with 38 points while Peter Taylor was third, also with 38 points. Angus Matther won division 2 scoring 41 points, Meredith Collins was second with 40 points and Kenneth Pitcher was third with 39 points.

The Ladies played a Stableford Competition on Tuesday. Judy McKeller was the overall winner scoring 38 points to win division 2, Julie Cross came second, also with 38 points but losing on count back, while Ann Parker was third with 37 points.

Suzanne Ward won division 1 scoring 37 points, Karen Grabham was second with 36 points while Kathy Salway came, third also with 36 points.

The excellent condition of the golf course was reflected in the good scoring in the Wednesday Midweek Medal Competition where Oliver Nott scored nett 65, six shots under par, to win while Joseph Pantling came second with nett 66 and Harry Forknall was third, also with nett 66.
