WE ARE off the mark for the new season after Manuelito won impressively on handicap debut at Ffos Las last week. Our four year old has done nothing but improve in each start over hurdles and following a win at Wincanton in novice company he made light of his opening rating of 113.
He will probably stay further than this in time and he enjoys the better ground so will be kept going for now and may have a run on the flat again at some point as well.
We also had two seconds last week with Behind the Curtain running well at Hereford on Monday and Mr Tambourine Man returning to form at Ffos Las.
Behind the Curtain has a very likeable attitude and was a little unlucky to be denied late on but I am sure he can be winning again very soon in the colours of the David Pipe Racing Club.
Mr Tambourine Man has been a little out of sorts in recent times but the better ground and the application of the visor made a big difference. He seems to like a flat track and remains well treated if he can reproduce this effort next time he is capable of winning again.
We are quiet on the runners front this week with our first runners not until Friday after Bashful Boy at Newton Abbot on Monday. We have entries over jumps at Hereford and Oceanline on the flat at Goodwood.
Behind the Curtain and Only Fools have previous course form while Kintaro could make his hurdling debut in the maiden hurdle. Over the weekend, we have entries at Uttoxeter so keep checking the Daily News for the latest information on the stable runners.
Moodofthemoment ran at Bratton Down point to point on Sunday and made it a hat trick of wins in three starts in this discipline in recent weeks by winning the novice riders race with Lukke Morris on board.
The combination had dead-heated previously at Stafford Cross to provide Lukke with his first winner but there was no nervous moments this time around as the pair won comfortably enough. Lukke gave him another good ride to register his second winner of his career and so it was a great day for the team.
I am off to Doncaster Sales this week looking for some new recruits to add to the team. There is plenty of horses on offer, from stores to point to pointers and horses in training. There are horses to suit all budgets so please do get in touch if you would like to know more information or would like to get involved. Email: [email protected]
