WIVELISCOMBE just missed out on a losing bonus point in a tightly contested game against Redruth 2nd XV in Cornwall, going down 22-14..

Wiveliscombe, lying one position above Redruth in fifth place in Western Counties West, were 9-0 down at half time with home fly half Ashley Hoskins converting three penalties.

Redruth increased their lead early in the second half with a fourth penalty from Hoskins.

Home fullback Ben Rosevear crossed for a try on 62 minutes to give Redruth a 17-0 lead.

Wiveliscombe raised their game and were rewarded with a try from prop Matthew Ellis in the 65th minute, Flyhalf Charlie Sharland converted.

Redruth replied with their second try with flanker Luke Young crossing for the five points.

Wiveliscombe were always looking to cross the home team tryline and scored a second try late in the game with centre Will Thorne going over.. Charlie Sharland added the extras.
