THE return match between the top two sides in the Premier Division of the Watchet & District Skittles League went the way of the leaders Bell All Stars as yet again Barrie Jones topped the alley with 123, leading them to an eight-pin home victory over second placed Allsorts, for whom Shane Coxhead hit a fine 121.
All Stars now hold a commanding eight-point lead over Allsorts and a further 13 ahead of third-placed QC Guys who consolidated their position after Mike Stout hit a superb 132 in the 28-pin away win over Bottoms Up, Matthew Phillips scoring 122 for the visitors.
Eben Harding hit 107 for Phoenix Knights as they moved out of the relegation places after the narrowest of wins, beating Rebels by a single pin. Brad Lock scored 109 for the losers.
Steve Duck topped the alley for Castaways, scoring 114 as they overcame White Horse Stallions by seven pins. Malcolm Bennett led the Stallions’ scoring with 95 while Steve Bosley hit 100 for Jack but an outstanding 120 from Three Ferrets’ Chris Adams saw them to a 17-pin victory. Highest away score: Archie Walsh (QC Guys) 145.
In Division A, Cam Munro knocked 101 for Railway Steamers who slipped to a 27-pin away defeat at the hands of Has Beens whose Mark Clausen led their scoring with 14 while 111 from Williton Club’s Steve King helped move them away from the drop zone after beating Outsiders by 21 pins whose Richard Butt was in good form, knocking 101. Combwich Otters’ Jason Proctor hit 102 in their three-pin defeat at the hands of Barn Owls who now go joint top. Highest away score: Shane Yaw (Railway Steamers) 135.
In Division B, leaders Wyndham Warriors slipped to a five-pin loss to Dizzy's Boys for whom Mark Mossman hit 108. Roger Howe topped the alley for the hosts with 110 and they have now been joined at the top by Wyndham Pinheads after Simon Thomson hit 101 in the 34-pin success against Rams for whom Leighroy Davis topped the alley with 103.
Ian Rotternbury and Reg Arch both hit 104 for Haddon Hillbillies in their 33-pin win over Quantock Stags who had John Cartwright scoring 91 while 109 from Footy Fockers’ Andy Porter helped his side to a 16-pin victory over Legion Specials whose Dan Rogers was in good form with a knock of 108. Highest away score: Lee Allen (Badgers) 140.
