HOLFORD Cricket Club hosted Trull Seconds in Division Five (North West) in the Somerset Cricket League on Saturday afternoon. The home side won the toss and after asking Trull to bat first they limited the visitors to 190 for seven from their 40 overs.

After losing Graham Bishop early Andy Sapey with 21 and Tom Russell, who his 60 with nine fours and a six, gave Trull a sound base to work on. Later Danny Parsons made 27 and Craig Lawton made an unbeaten 27.

For the hosts opening bowler Kevin Buller claimed two for 32 from his eight overs while Jack Rich claimed two for 25.

When Holford replied they lost Jack Rich for four before Derek Buller with 12 and Ross Wright with 10 got the scoreboard moving.

Jub Penny with 21 and Ian Jeanes, who made 26 with four fours and a six, then shared a partnership but sadly once they departed there was little further resistance as Holford were bowled out for 107 in 30.4 giving Trull victory by 83 runs.

Greg Walters with the impressive figures of four for eight off eight overs, three of which were maidens, was the pick of the bowlers, while both Mark Thomas and Justin Hayward claimed two each.
