A MAN has been remanded in custody for three weeks after appearing in court in connection with an alleged knife incident in a West Somerset village.

The incident was said to have happened near Stogumber Village Hall and Stogumber Church of England Primary School.

Dean Cohen, aged 37, faced two charges of possession of a bladed article and common assault.

Cohen, of Stogumber, entered a guilty plea to the assault charge when he appeared in Taunton Magistrates Court last Thursday (June 27) and also indicated he would be pleading guilty to the bladed instrument charge.

He will be brought before the magistrates again on Wednesday, July 17.

The offences were alleged to have happened in Station Road, Stogumber, at about 3pm on June 25.

Police later issued an appeal for anybody with any information which could help their investigation into the alleged incident to call 101 and quote reference 5224164616.
