A ROAD in Minehead became a winter wonderland as Father Christmas switched on the annual Christmas lights display in Plover Close on Saturday (November 23).

Dozens of families watched the spectacle despite the wet and windy weather brought to the town by Storm Bert.

The dazzling lights installations on homes in the street are arranged each year by self-employed gardener Michael Grace and his wife Beverley.

Mr Grace worked across every weekend since October to make sure the lights were ready in time.

It is the fifth year of the Plover Close event and the lights will stay on nightly until January with visitor donations going to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

Last year, Mr Grace raised more than £1,500 for the charity.

Mr Grace previously put on a Christmas lights display at his former home in Alcombe and over the years he has raised more than £10,000 for charity.
