A COFFEE and cake morning was held on Thursday (October 10) to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Porlock’s community library.
The event was an opportunity to thank current and past volunteers and parish and Somerset councillors who were involved in setting up the library.
Thanks were also given to the people of Porlock who week in week out ‘visit the library to borrow books, but also to support the various regular and one-off events’.
A spokesperson said: “We celebrate the last 10 years and look forward to the next 10.
“Without your support, we would never have made it this far.”
The library was created when the former county council closed public libraries across Somerset to bridge a budget shortfall.
Porlock was one of a number of communities which took up an offer by the county authority to take over and keep running their library.
It is run by volunteers supported by a part-time staff member.
