PORLOCK Recreation Ground charity trustees were this week preparing to welcome visitors to their annual country fair.

The event, which has evolved from a village fete into a ‘genuine country fair’ with a wide range of activities to enjoy, takes place on Sunday (August 4) from 11 am to 5 pm.

The fair regularly attracts crowds of more than 2,000 visitors with the main activity taking place in show arena, supportedby a family/fun dog show and children’s races.

Entertainment should suit all ages with craft stalls and side shows, circus workshops, stilt walkers, a bouncy castle, samba band, tombola, and more.

There will also be a variety of culinary delights, a beer and soft drinks tent, and teas in the pavilion to cater for everybody.

The fair is the main fund-raising event for the recreation ground, providing most of the income to maintain it for villagers and visitors alike.
