ASHBRITTLE lost for only the second time this season when they went down by six wickets away to Brompton Ralph in the first division of the West Somerset Cricket League.

Deciding to bat first, Ashbrittle scored 212 in their 40 overs with Mark White scoring 49, Steven Grant 46, and Sam Shaikh 44 not out. B Poole took 5-42, W Barrington 2-51, R Chiplin 1-35 and Z Whitaker 1-42.

Brompton Ralph romped to victory in 30 overs with R Chiplion hitting 86 and B Poole 61. Callum White took 2-22.

Although they can mathematically be caught, Ashbrittle have a 79-point lead at the top of the table and will finish as champions. Brompton collected 34 points and Ashbrittle 14.

Bagborough gained a massive 204-run success away to East Huntspill. The visitors made 293 all out with Jed Glanville knocking 50, Blake Jones 53, Tom Eve 57 and Craig Swinburne 46. Louie Glew snapped up 2-42.

Despite a 38-run opening stand, Huntspill never looked like getting the runs with Giles Audibert scoring 21, and Patrick Chisholm and Adam Harding (not out) both 19. Matthew Refill took 5-15 and Sami Rollinson 3-12.

Morebath piled up 410 in beating relegated Churchinford by 243 runs. Batting first, Morebath’s Joe Weeks slammed 144, Carl Hooper 74 not out, R Bowden 67 and Graham Turner 56 not out. 

Matt Francombe (38), Jack Perry (28) and Kristian Morgan (28) were Churchinford’s main run-getters as the visitors were bowled out for 167. R Bowden took 2-19 and Irindu Gallage 2-31.

Over Stowey won by six wickets at home to Bridgetown who batted first and made 160-4 in their 40 overs with Dan Sizer scoring 40, Ben Weetch 32 not out and Ben Luxton 25. Kieran Barrow finished with figures of 4-14, Hayden Langlois 2-36 and Liam Barrow 2-40.

Stowey knocked off the runs in 28-1 overs with William Marchant-Saunders scoring 83 not out, Barrow 23 and Sam Thomas 20. Dominic Osborne took 3-42. 

Only one match was played in Division Two with Lydeard St Lawrence gaining a home win over Roadwater in a game which produced nearly 500 runs.

Roadwater, who opted to bat first, scored 244-9 in their 40 overs while Lydeard knocked off the runs for the loss of five wickets.

In Division Three, Cutcombe were 147-run home winners over Fitzhead. Batting first Cutcombe scored 223-9 in their 40 overs despite only two batters - Mark Matravers 91 and Ben Purcey 63 - getting into double figures. Sam Everington took 3-21 while Ryan Mullins, Neil Mullins and Sam Nelson all took two wickets.

Fitzhead, who are relegated along with Wiveliscombe, were bowled out for a paltry 76, unable to cope with the bowling of Purcey 3-9, Harry Lacey 2-19 and James Gregory 2-24.
