ASHBRITTLE have opened up a 24-point lead at the top of the first division in the West Somerset Cricket League after beating East Huntspill by 183 runs on Saturday.
After deciding to bat first, Ashbrittle scored 256-8 in their 40 overs with Sam Shaikh being out only four runs short of a century. Chris Hill scored 34 while there were useful knocks by Wilfred Embledon (18), Andy Hill (19) and Mark White (19).
East Huntspill, who had won their opening two games, never recovered from a disastrous start and were bowled out for 73 with Callum White taking 4-4 and Matt Lovell 3-22.
Reigning champions Kilve won by 50 runs at home to Morebath who were bowled out for 109 with T Bowden being their top scorer with 23. Last season's winners scored 159-8 with Carl Clemenson scoring 44. Brian Boundy took 4-35 for Morebath.

Roadwater still lead Division Two despite their match against Watchet being abandoned with the home side having scored 246-6 with James Weetch scoring 58 and Ian Lowe 52. Watchet (22), Roadwater (26).
Sam Price hit 135 for Carhampton whose home game against Huish Champflower was also abandoned. Carhampton knocked 297-5 with Paul Keal also hitting 61 and DominicWestcott 56. Carhampton (22), Huish Champflower (17).
Crowcombe were bowled out for 138 before their game against Lydeard St Lawrence also had to be called off because of rain. Richard Baker was Crowcombe's top scorer with 35.
Winsford won by nine wickets at home to Stoodleigh who crashed to 86 all out with Andrew Blackmore snapping up 4-20 and Pat Crane 2-1.
Elias Hayes hammered 190 for Stogumber who beat Sampford Arundel by 172runs in Division Three. Stogumber piled up 336 all out before bowling out their rivals for 164 with Jim Fewings scoring 50 and Richard Milton 28.
Bishops Hull had made 175-6 when their game at home to Wiveliscombe was abandoned. Andy Gloyn was 70 not out for the Taunton side while Lewis Clark took 2-22.
Minehead 3rd XI were involved in an exciting game, winning by one wicket at home to Cannington who were all out for 121 with Renjeesh Krishnan taking 3-32 before scoring a crucial 32.
Three matches were abandoned in Division Four while Brompton Ralph conceded their game at Buckland St Mary.
Hemyock were 113-5 when their fixture ended at Over Stowey with Mark Slater and Louis Allan both scoring 26.
