HOLFORD, who are in their first season in the Somerset League Division Five (N/W) after transferring from the West Somerset Cricket League, kept up their drive for promotion when they were far too strong for Wembdon Thirds..
After being put into bat the visitors struggled against the strong Holford attack. Only ‘keeper Craig Savage who top scored with 19, Connor Evans with 17 and Daniel James-Stone who got 12, made double figures as Wembdon were all out for 92 in the 32nd over.
Ian Jeanes with four wickets for nine runs from his 4.2 overs, two of which were maidens, was the pick of the home bowling attack, while Kevin Buller ended with three for 22 from his eight, and Harrison Buller claimed two for 30, also from eight.
When the home side replied their openers Jack Rich and Nick Hill made short work of their target and reached 94 without loss in just 12.4 overs to record a resounding nine wicket victory.
Rich ended unbeaten on 72 which included eight fours and five sixes, while Hill remained not out on 19.
This result keeps Holford in second place in the table behind Shaftesbury Road First XI - and they have a game in hand.
