HAVING beaten leaders North Curry twice this season, Minehead Colts were hoping to complete the hat-trick but went down 3-2 away to their rivals in Division Two of the Taunton Saturday Football League.

Minehead started well and despite having more attempts on goal (6-4) found themselves 2-0 down. The home side’s first was a corker which gave keeper Tomasz Kubaczewski no chance and the second had an element of good fortune when the ball came off a Curry player, again leaving the keeper with no chance.

However Minehead pulled one back through Callum Hawker before they were adjudged to have conceded a penalty which the excellent Kubaczewski saved. Curry then regained their two goal advantage before 16 year old Haiden Griffiths was brought down in the box and got up to rifle the penalty home for his 15th of the season.

With the game now on a knife age the last ten minutes was tense with Minehead pushing forward but leaders Curry held on when perhaps a draw would have been a fairer result.
