MINEHEAD made the long journey to Wincanton to compete in the first round of the Somerset Under 12s Girls Cup - and came away with an 8-0 victory.

The visitors were keen for the win and struck early with their strong attack, and only three minutes into the game they were 2-0 up.

Wincanton did not let their heads drop and battled hard to create opportunities. However, Minehead's solid defensive efforts throughout the whole team ensured the chances, including a free kick just outside the box, came to nothing.

Minehead were on top form and controlled the game well, ensuring they had the majority of the possession. Their fantastic team effort and link up play was rewarded with a tremendous goal display and by half time they led 7-0.

Minehead maintained the same work rate and composure after the break and soon made it eight which was how the game ended.

This is Minehead’s seventh unbeaten game in a row and they now face Pen Mill in the quarter finals of the cup.

Minehead return to league duty this weekend when they are at home to top of the league Bishops Lydeard, when support would be very welcome and much appreciated.
