MINEHEAD beat Bishops Lydeard 3-1 at home in the second of pre-season friendly football matches between the clubs.
While missing two of their most influential players, who had influenced the game the week before, it was the hosts who edged possession and looked more likely to open the scoring, which they did around the fifteen-minute mark through Leon Lofts who beat the keeper from just inside the box.
Midway through the second half, with the visitors still looking capable of an equalizer, a perfect through ball from The Blues’ Sam Heath gave substitute Toby Waghorn the opportunity to outstrip the defence and place the ball out of the keeper’s reach.
The same player nearly made it three with a header midway through the second period but Lydeard hit back to make a contest of it when Lewis Gange struck home with ten minutes remaining. With the visitors pressing for the equaliser Waghorn put the game out of reach, converting after Rob Vickers’ pass. ,
