THE persistently cold weather has deterred golfers from playing in competitions on some of the days at Oake Manor Golf Club.
A few events have taken place and the winner of the Saturday Stableford was Michael Bright who scored 32 points. Neil Blackmore came second with 31 points and Graham Wiskin was third with 30 points.
The Ladies played a nine hole ‘Syncronised Swimming’ Stableford on Tuesday where the scores on the holes across water were doubled. Pam Kinnear won Division One with 21 points, Janet Howe came second with 20 points and Julie Cross was third with 19 points.
Sue Corlett was the runaway winner of Division Two, scoring 25 points, Ros Shepherd was second with 21 points and Catherine Drysdale came third with 18 points.
Jonathan White won the Wednesday Midweek Stableford with 35 points, Owaine Bird came second, also with 35 points, while Nathan Gully was third with 34 points.
In the Saturday Stableford Competition the previous week, Jack Jones was the runaway winner with an exceptional score of 41 points. Ashley Evans came second with 29 points while Richard Barker was third with 26 points.
Dominic Stapleton won the Sunday Stableford Competition with a score of 35 points. Bob Tye was second with a score of 34 points while Paul Flay came in third, also with 34 points.
The Seniors Section played a three ball Bowmaker on Monday, with the best two scores from three to count. The winning team with 75 points were Mike Bright, J Sheppard and Terry Burrows. In second place with 74 points were Andy Stevenson, Phil Marsh and Bob Sanders and in third place were Mike Amos, Mike Robbins and Bernard Reed.
The ladies played a Stableford on the Tuesday over nine holes with two Joker holes worth double points. Alison Harman won Division One while Catherine Drysdale won Division Two.
