MINEHEAD & West Somerset Golf Club Seniors started their week with a Texas Scramble which was won by Neville Parsons, W John Perkins and Dave Walmsley with an excellent nett 63, one ahead of second placed Martin Hole, Paul Thompson and Nigel Trevelyan. Third on countback with 65 were Dave Ball, Roger Read and Mark Ruttley.
On Wednesday, in near perfect conditions, a Stableford was played. Bob Arthington paved the way with an excellent 40 points including 22 points on the back nine. Three players scored 37 points, and Andy Giles took second on countback ahead of Mike Kelly (third) and Nigel Trevelyan (fourth).
Round Four of the Trafalgar Tankard was played on Friday when, after the overnight storm, there were deposits of surface water and high winds to contend with. Eighteen of the 20 pairs took to the fairways and enjoyed the challenging back nine; none more so than Paul Saunders and Andy Hodges who managed to accumulate a magnificent 40 points to win the round. In second place with 38 were Martin Hole and Bob Arthington with Andrew Coward and Nigel Trevelyan finishing third, with 37 points.
Congratulations to Nigel Moore who enjoyed a hole in one on the par 3, 10th in his game last week.
