MINEHEAD Hockey Club's inaugural mixed seven-a-side summer league has continued with more than 40 players attending - and thoroughly enjoying the atmosphere which these games bring. Each match is played over a half-hour on a half-pitch area.
The six teams competing are all raising funds for a chosen charity, with the side that wins the league donating to their chosen charity.
Teams can have guest players from other clubs, or new or returning players, resulting in fun and competitive matches for everyone each week.
The league continues until the end of August on Tuesday evenings from 7p.m. to 8.30p.m. Drinks are available all evening at Minehead Cricket Club's pavilion, and an end of league barbeque is planned for Friday, August 30. All players who have been taking part in the league, plus new or old are welcome.
One of the recent week's guest players was Paul Stevens of Elliot's Touch, Minehead Men's Hockey Club's main charity, and on hand to present last year's fund raising cheque was club social secretary Dom Bowden and new second team captain Joe Bolton.
Meanwhile, all players at Minehead Hockey Club are preparing for another winter of league matches.
