MINEHEAD Hockey Club hosted their annual Henry Bissell Memorial Hockey Match on Saturday, December 28, at the West Somerset Sports Centre pitch.
An excellent turnout from all three men’s teams and the ladies’ sides as well as ex-players, families and friends all gathered to remember their departed team mates and raise money for the club’s chosen charities.
With more than 30 players taking to the pitch there were three evenly-matched mixed sides competing over 25-minute matches, with most players then retiring to the Britannia Inn for some post-festive celebrations.
The next hockey action at Minehead will be on the 18th of January as the league season restarts after the festive break, with the 2nd XI travelling to Bridgwater to play a match on Saturday, January 11, which should have taken place in December but was postponed with a lot of other sporting outdoor events because of Storm Darragh which caused havoc all over the country.
Training restarts on the 8th January for men, with the ladies training on the Tuesday.
Minehead Hockey Club is a very welcoming club and returning players are always welcome to join in - plus any players who wish to take up the sport.
