MINEHEAD Hockey Club’s Ladies hosted top-of-the-table North Devon 1’s and went down 4-1.
North Devon started strongly and quickly slotted three goals in the first 10 minutes before Minehead had a chance to get going. Minehead managed to get a hold of the game thereafter, stringing together some good passes between the midfield and forward lines. The defence of Bailey, Buller, Koppa and Garwood kept North Devon’s many attacks at bay.
At the other end of the pitch, Cooper and Cape managed to earn Minehead a short corner which was converted with a well executed sweep from Tisshaw into the goal to make the score 3-1 to the visitors at half time.
After a pep-talk from coach Speed at the break, Minehead started the second half with renewed energy but were unlucky to concede another goal after another 10 minutes. Keeper Weetch made some excellent diving saves, limiting the damage North Devon could inflict.
The rest of the game passed with end to end running from Chilcott, Hoar, Hayes and Tisshaw but Minehead were unable to get any outcomes from their attacks. The game ended with a respectable 4-1 defeat against a very strong side. The Exmoor Adventures Players of the Match went to Jess Koppa and Amy Tisshaw.
