MINEHEAD’S Men’s First XI continued their campaign with a convincing 12-0 win over newly-promoted Yeovil & Sherborne Third XI.
The Second XI travelled to Yeovil to face their seconds who are always a very strong home side.
Max Reed slotted the lead from a well worked short corner which like their visit to Isca, rocked the home side, albeit briefly as they bounced back with two goals before the break.
The second half saw Minehead press hard with Cole and Cobb assisted by the returning Fieldhouse’s extreme pace down the wing delivering frequent attacks, which eventually paid off with Reed again finding the back of the net.
Stung again, Yeovil came straight back to slot their third which proved to be the winner.
The Third XI made the trip to Clevedon to face Old Bristolian 5s who played without a goalkeeper.
Richard Darlington’s penalty flick and outfield goal from Nev Weir saw the score 2-2 at the half time break.
A short corner awarded on the final whistle meant a nail-biter of a finish, but defence held strong, and a draw was the final outcome. Man of the Match was the returning Chris Gibbons coming out of retirement.
