THE Autumn has seen the arrival of a new mixed competition initiative at Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club organised by Tricia Grinter.

There has been two so far. One played over 18 holes on a Sunday afternoon and one over nine holes on a Friday afternoon.

The plan is to have more of these, perhaps once a month, running over the winter.

The format was ‘Four Ball Better Ball’ where a Lady and Gentleman play as a team and the best Stableford score of the two of them on a hole is recorded.

Hazel and Nigel Binding were winners for the 18 hole and Corinne and Paul Rees for the 9 hole. Both were followed by a sociable drink in the clubhouse.

Also some group coaching has been organised for the Ladies Section run by Jason Arnold, who is one of the golf professionals here at Minehead.

These take place on Sunday afternoons in October and November for groups between 4pm and 6pm and cover most areas of the game at a very reasonable price.

This is particularly aimed at our new members who are new to the game but also has more established members participating.
