MINEHEAD RFC Under 13s were at home to Wiveliscombe on Sunday - and it was the visitors who took an early lead.

The hosts were struggling at the rucks and getting turned over at the breakdown, but they then won a scrum, from which Ed White scored, making it level at the break.

Early in the second half Minehead took the lead with a try from Finlay Penny. However, the visitors came back strongly and two tries in quick succession put them back ahead.

Going into the last 10 minutes Wiveliscombe scored again making it 4-2 at which stage the hosts looked beaten.

However Ben Lake then scored from a 10 yard penalty, which gave Minehead the boost they needed. In the last minute Ollie Hardick scored for the home side making it 4-4.

Team coach said: “There was some great rugby from both sides and the score was a very fair reflection of the game. A really good effort from the home side especially after going two tries down to get back to a well deserved draw.”

The Man of the Match was Fred Bishop, with some great runs and tackling all over the pitch, while the Gladiator of the Match was Jasper Mayhew, making his first appearance for the Under 13s.
