MINEHEAD Reserves, missing some key players, collected their first point of the season with a 1-1 away draw against North Petherton in the Premier Division of the Taunton Saturday League.
It was not long before the home team threatened down their right hand side where they looked dangerous and after 18 minutes they took the lead. However Minehead’s defence of Myles Campbell-Farmer, Harvey Lovell, Oli Jones and Luke Heath stood firm and with keeper Dan Pawson growing in confidence with each match kept Petherton at bay.
Lee Hardick, a new signing from neighbours Porlock, looked very comfortable on debut while the new attacking group of Dan Vickers, Lewis Goodrum and Bart Kubaczewski supported Jani Jasielczuk and Scott Kivell in attack.
Minehead grew with the minutes and Jasielczuk finished well to draw the game level before half time.
For the first 25 minutes of the second half Minehead dominated and saw the introduction of two new players at this level, Tom Kennett in midfield and 16 year old Haiden Griffiths in attack and both equipped themselves well.
Throughout the game Pawson in goal produced a series of excellent saves which went a long way to keeping the home team at bay. Man of the Match: Dan Pawson.
