NEW third division champions Stogumber have ended the season unbeaten in the West Somerset Cricket League.

They beat Wiveliscombe by 149 runs in their last match with Ben Rexworthy being their star batter with 127.

Stogumber, batting first, scored 305 in their 40 overs with Elias Hayes also scoring 63, Ben Wilson 41 before being run out and M Richings 39 not out Warren Haynes took 2-32.

Heynes was also the leading scorer for Wiveliscombe, hitting 29 while seven other batters managed to get into double figures. M Richings, J Jenkins, Elliott Brick and Will Moore all took two wickets.

Sampford Arundel will be promoted along with Stogumber despite losing at home to Bishops Hull by three wickets. Batting first Sampford scored 170-8 with Oscar Milton scoring 48.

Dan Chantler led the chase for runs with 43, while Mark Hallas scored 31 and Paul Melville 31 not out. 

In the only other match played in the division, Cutcombe gained a six-run home success against Cannington.

Cutcombe’s innings was dominated by opener Mark Matravers who was 94 not out, while James Gregory was the only other batter to score double figures.

Cannington came up short by only seven runs, with Harry Lacey finishing with the remarkable figures of 5-10.
