MINEHEAD Barbarians Under 13s were at home to North Petherton - and won 10-5 to avenge a defeat earlier this season.

Petherton got off to a flying start and took the lead it wasn’t long before North Petherton scored again.

At this point, however, Minehead seemed to come to life and Arthur Gell was over putting Minehead on the scoreboard. Soon after Ed White went over for the hosts making it 2-2.

Shortly after the home side scored another with Louie Sparks going over to make the it 3-2 at half time.

Straight from the kick off Billy Haller received the ball, and a great solo effort saw him score a try going over to put the home side 4-2 ahead.

It wasn’t long before Billy Haller was over again after some quick thinking from a break down making the score 5-2 to the home side. Now it was North Petherton who seemed stunned for a minute but not for long before they rallied well and scored two tries to narrow the gap at 5-4.

A regroup from Minehead saw Jesse Bruce score to restore the two try lead and with North Petherton looking the more tired it wasn’t long before Billy Haller was over for his hat-trick of tries.

Minehead were still looking good and soon scored again, this time through Harry Tucker making it 8-4 North Petherton weren’t done yet and pulled one back to make the score 8-5

.However with five minutes left on the clock Minehead’s efforts were rewarded with another try from George Perry which put the game out of reach. North Petherton knew they were beat, and couldn’t stop the home side going over for another try, this time from Alfie Harris making the final score 10-5 to Minehead.

Man of the match was Billy Haller, while the Gladiator of the match was George Cockerill.
