WIVELISCOMBE have pulled out of their away tie against Kingsbridge in the Papa John’s Cup which would have been played this coming weekend, thus ending their season.
Skipper Will Ellis said: "We found we would not have had enough players and so we had no alternative but to call it off."
Kingsbridge beat Plymstock in the opening round, while Wiveliscombe received a bye. Wellington decided not to enter the competition this year, particularly with their packed 150th year celebrations.
Wiveliscombe ended their season in Counties One Western West by finishing in sixth place in the 12-team division.
The club's 2nd XV won Counties Four Somerset South, losing only one match - to the eventual runners-up Martock.
Wiveliscombe have their end of season dinner and dance and awards night on Friday, May 2.
Meanwhile, Wellington continue their 150th year celebrations with a Day of Rugby at the Athletic Ground on Saturday, April 26.
First in action will be a Vet's team who will be playing a President's Select XV with a 11a.m. kick-off. This is followed by a match between Wellington Vixens and Sherborne which will follow two hours later. The club's lst XV will complete the day with a match against Taunton Warriors (3p.m.).
"We expect a number of players will want to play in the game," said Wellington secretary Ashley Colman.
The club's minis and juniors will be playing on the Sunday, April 27.
The club will end a packed season by making a four-day tour to Barcelona at the beginning of next month. An official party of 50 will be making the trip, including 30 players. The highlight is a match against Barcelona University to be played on Saturday, May 3. Wellington ended last season with a tour to Newcastle.
