AN open gardens and tea event organised by and for people living in Furzeland Road, in Porlock, was well supported, and residents are now planning a wine and cheese occasion before the end of the summer.

Furzeland Road, which links Sparkhayes Lane and Villes Lane, has become well known for its strong community spirit, which developed particularly during the Covid pandemic.

The street has 25 properties and residents now hold regular events throughout the year which help to keep the community together.

It also means that neighbours now know that they can knock on any door when they need help and they will receive a favourable response.

The latest occasion saw them open their gardens to visitors and provide teas for everybody who took part, which one said ‘was very well received’.

Previous Furzeland Road activities have included a pancake race, cream teas, a carol singing evening, and street parties.
