A RARE opportunity will arise on Saturday (April 27) to meet and listen to Briony Greenhill in West Somerset.
Briony is a singer, pianist, arranger, and composer and will be appearing in Alfoxton House, Holford at 7.30pm.
In her early career she sang mainly soul and jazz, later becoming a world leader in improvisational artistry bringing together folk, soul, and jazz.
Her multi-instrumental music crosses various genres, offering an opportunity to join her in creating lush and wild vocal harmonies.
Mojo describes Briony’s music as ‘like Marvin Gaye crossed with a funky Earth Mother… this is sensual music that, if you want them, could give extra reasons to live’.
Briony will be joined by Matt Kelly, who plays fiddle with Martha Tilston and composes music for film and television, including Silent Witness.
People can take musical instruments if they want to jam during a session after the performance.
Tickets will be available on the night and can be pre-booked by calling Alfoxton Hall on 07513 701775.
Alfoxton Park is a Triratna Buddhist retreat centre set in grounds where the poets William Wordsworth and Coleridge wrote some of their most loved work, and performances are only offered to the public.
