A ‘BEACH fish’ plastic recycling structure planned for Minehead sea front failed to enthuse town councillors for a second time.

West Somerset Green Forum asked councillors for a letter of support for the project, which it wants to put in place on The Esplanade in May and June this year.

But councillors who previously raised concerns around volunteer management, potential misuse, and waste disposal, remained unconvinced.

They said although some concerns had been addressed, there were still uncertainties about how the structure would be used and if it would serve its intended purpose.

Councillors agreed the project had potential to raise awareness of plastic usage but were worried about the potential impact of any misuse on the council’s waste disposal costs.
