A FIVE-WICKET haul by Henry Bond was the key factor in Bridgetown’s nine-wicket victory over Brompton Ralph in the top division of the West Somerset Cricket League on Saturday afternoon. After winning the toss and deciding to bat first visitors Brompton Ralph found themselves 27 for three before Ben Davies was joined by George Noble who made 10 and the pair added 25 for the fourth wicket together.  Davies then helped the total onto 73 before he was stumped by ‘keeper Kenny Cross off Bond for 35, after which there was little further resistance as the visitors were all out for 97 in 30 overs. Bond ended with figures of five for 26 off nine overs while Tom Gliddon and Simon Costello claimed two wickets each. When Bridgetown replied they reached 103 for the loss of one wicket in 21.2 overs, of which Matt Richards made an unbeaten 45 off 33 balls with six sixes and remained not out 14 from 51 deliveries. The wicket taker for Brompton Regis was Zak Whittaker who ended with one for 31 from his nine overs. The result sees Bridgetown in fourth place in the table while Brompton are seventh.
