TEENAGE sensation and world darts champion Luke Littler has won the UK Open at Butlins, Minehead.
In the final he cruised effortlessly to an 11-2 victory over a dazed James Wade.
The Nuke stormed out of the blocks against World No.11 Wade, winning the first five legs in little over eight minutes.
At one point, the reigning World Champion threatened to whitewash his out-of-sorts opponent as he went 9-0 up thanks to a ton-plus average and consistent treble hitting.
Wade was able to scrape a couple of legs late in the contest to avoid a whitewash, but the 18-year-old eventually wrapped up the encounter with a double six to claim a decisive victory and a £110,000 winners’ cheque.
Wade only won legs ten and 12 as Little eventually got the job done after twice missing double 12 on his way to an emphatic win.
“It is one I have wanted to win,” the star told ITV 4 afterwards.
Littler shot to fame with his stunning run in the 2023-24 World Darts Championship before going on to win ten titles in a year in which he became a social media phenomenon and household name.
He now has a massive following, many of whom have never played or watched darts in the past.
He is now an inspiration for many who want to take up the sport, some as young as six or seven. He has also been made an honorary citizen of Warrington.
Butlins has become a big venue for televised darts, staging events throughout the year attracting thousands of noisy fans who create a unique atmosphere. Darts also has a worldwide following with Littler being the No1 star.
He also pops up at many other sporting events in the country.
