MINEHEAD began the New Year with a 9-5 away victory over North Curry in the Under 12 section of the Somerset Girls Football League.
In the freezing conditions it was the visitors who started the better and it was not long before they deservedly opened the scoring. North Curry didn’t let their heads drop and took control of the game and scored three goals in reply
It was then Minehead’s turn to find their composure and with outstanding work rate in difficult weather conditions, they got right back into the match with two goals of their own, making it 2-2 at the break.
Playing up the slope in the second half, Minehead took control of the game and found their composure to net four goals without reply.
North Curry threatened to get back into the game with two goals of their own but it was Minehead who were finishing the game the stronger of the two teams. Two more Minehead goals finished the performance off nicely and made the final score 9-5 to the visitors.
Victory enabled Minehead to stretch their unbeaten run to five games and continue to climb the league table. Their next match sees Minehead travel to Somerton towards the end of the month.
