JEREMY Scott and his team at Higher Holworthy Farm are all set for the new National Hunt season and after enjoying his first ever winner at the Cheltenham Festival in March this year the Exmoor based handler is preparing for what he hopes will be an even more successful time in 2024-25.

“As the Summer draws to a close, the horses have had their work steadily built up as they increase their fitness and lose their holiday bellies,” said the trainer.

“Leah and Sarah from Exmoor Equine Dental Practice have done their annual dental check ups and we keep them turned out as much as possible while the weather is still mild and the fields are still dry!

“Autumn feels like it is on it's way as the temperatures begin to drop and the rain fall increases.”

“ We decided against an Owners Day or Open Day as we have prior commitments on our usual weekends and will aim to host one next year. We would like to invite you all to arrange to come and see the yard and the horses on the gallops at a convenient time.”

Reflecting on the summer Jeremy added: “We only had a few runners throughout August, the highlight being Kings Castle's second at Perth in a Class 2 Handicap Hurdle, making the long trip to Scotland worthwhile. He has turned a corner this summer, winning four on the bounce and earning over £30,000 since May!

“The weather is now turning towards autumnal and we can now look forward to the return of jumps racing. The horses are building up their fitness and are looking fantastic!”

For those who want to get more involved with horse racing Jeremy’s yard has got a couple of horses for sale.

“We have a couple of exciting horses available for Sale as a whole or as a share. They are at different stages of their training and budgets.

“The 3 year old Getaway is about to have a holiday and will return to work in the Spring having been broken in. He is a good looking half brother to Nina The Terrier and Cawthorne Banker. A fantastic work and attitude and has been broken in by Martin Jones and is very balanced and looks a classy prospect.

“The Nathaniel is a 4 year old who should be ready for a run in a bumper in the Autumn, and we are looking at syndicating him so please get in contact to reserve your place. He is lovely young horse who will be ready to run this autumn in a bumper, just needs a name! He is a lovely mover who did plenty in the Spring. Final few shares available
