MINEHEAD Tennis club travelled to Clevedon on Sunday playing a match in the Division Three of the North Somerset Winter Tennis League.

This was their third match, having won the previous two games. The Men’s doubles went to Clevedon in a close match. The home pair of Myles Wellings and Filip Madzelenski proved a little too strong for the visitors, winning 7-5 6-2 against Minehead’s Ken Holroyd and Peter Stephens who, even so, put up a good show.

The Ladies Doubles was also close. Minehead Ladies Caroline Bayley and Judy Kay took both sets over the Clevedon pair Olivia Wellings and Liz Lester 6-4 6-4, but yet again it was a tight game. The mixed doubles was also close, Caroline and Ken playing the first mixed for Minehead, winning over Myles and Olivia in three sets 3-6, 6-2, 1-0,

The Mixed Doubles second pair for Minehead of Peter and Judy lost against a young hard hitting guy Filip and his partner 6-3 6-0. The end result was a 5-4 win for Clevedon. plus two points for the win. Minehead picked up four points in a tough match played in pouring rain on a cold day.
